We all knew this post was coming.
Let’s get the basics out of the way. Ari Aster who put out one of my favourite films last year (Hereditary) is returning to A24 with another film. As if that wasn’t enough to sell me, it’s another horror film, that apparently isn’t “technically” horror once again. So I’m already invested, but he decides to include Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Free Fire), Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth), Will Poulter (We’re The Millers and OG Pennywise) as well as William Jackson Harper (The Good Place). So I’m very excited. They’ve been teasing the film all of last week, and I’m just excited that the trailer is finally out for us to dissect. Anyway, that’s more than enough. Let’s watch the trailer now.
This looks incredible. It feels like it’s on a larger scale compared to Hereditary and the editing of the trailer also helps build the tension to some great quick shots at everything that’s going to happen. I know I’m going to watch this over and over again, even though I know I shouldn’t because I rather not spoil any of the film.
Midsommar is out August 3rd according to A24’s site, and we all know I will be seeing it opening day. Let the festivities begin.
