Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker [Trailer]

If you know me, you know one thing, Star Wars is everything to me. There’s so much that I love about it and I will always love about it. Unlike many, I loved The Last Jedi, though it was one of the best films in the series. So for me, The Rise of Skywalker has to accomplish a lot. It needs to continue the story of our three new main characters, it needs to live up to my expectations and needs to conclude one of the best sagas ever created. That’s a lot to ask for a film, but at the same time, it’s Star Wars so I expect nothing else than perfection at this point. With the D23 Expo that happened this weekend, it was just a matter of time before a trailer came out and this morning, we all woke up to this gem.

Now, it’s not a real trailer but it does play really well on the nostalgia of it all. Starting with footage from the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. But it does end with footage from the new film. First of all, the narration starts with our dear Luke Skywalker but if you pay close attention, it morphs into the voice of Emperor Palpatine who will return in this final instalment. We also get some epic fighting between Rey and Kylo, some action for everyone but what we all need to talk about it that last shot.

Now, we know how J.J. Abrams is, he keeps everything close to the vest. So just like when the trailer for The Force Awakens came out and we saw Finn with a lightsaber, I doubt that the last shot of Rey in all black with a red double lightsaber is probably nothing but misdirect but still it is still pretty epic to see. I do believe that this is either going to be Rey going undercover to take down Palpatine and Kylo Ren or Palpatine trying to bring Rey to the dark side by playing mind games with her.

This footage doesn’t give us a lot but it does make me really excited. I don’t expect a full trailer until October really but to have this little bit of footage is still enough to satisfy me until the real thing comes out.
