i’m thinking of ending things [trailer]

New Charlie Kaufman alert!

I’ve been a fan of Kaufman’s work for as long as I can remember. One of the most important moments of my life was my introduction to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Since then, I went back and have seen all the films he’s worked on and made. He even wrote a novel that I’m trying to read for the past month. It’s great so far, but it’s hard to even describe it.

But! That’s not what we’re doing here today, we’re here for the trailer for his latest film i’m thinking of ending things. It’s scheduled to be released on Netflix on September fourth, and I’ll be on the lookout for the film to review it and give you my thoughts.

i’m thinking of ending things is based on a novel by Iain Reid, a novel I did actually read twice this year. And while part of it does seem like it would be hard to adapt, I’m so excited to see what Kaufman is going to do with it.

The premise is fairly simple, a young woman goes on a mini road trip with her boyfriend to meet his parents for the first time, but as the title states, she’s thinking of ending things.

Here’s the trailer!

I thought my expectations were high, but this looks phenomenal. The constant use of the sound that comes when the dog shakes builds the perfectly creepy atmosphere of the novel. The film looks absolutely gorgeous.

i’m thinking of ending things stars Jesse Plemons as Jake, Toni Colette as mother, David Thewlis as father, and Jessie Buckley as young woman. The casting of this looks like it’s perfect.

I can’t wait to see this film. Excuse me as I will start asking everyone if they’ve seen this trailer for the next month.
